I’ve always been drawn to bygone days, long-forgotten people and their stories. As an undergraduate, I studied English and of course, gravitated toward the oldest English. That led (through convoluted paths) to a PhD in Viking Studies from the University of Nottingham. Along the way, as a break from academic research, I always enjoyed a good mystery. Why did it take so long to realize the two could be united? The Edwin of Wimborne medieval mystery series combines the drama of life in King Alfred’s days with the meticulous research required of the solid detective story.
